My background and training:
I earned my PhD at Columbia University. I completed my clinical internship in the
Department of Psychiatry at Beth Israel Hospital in New York. I have received
advanced training in Systems Centered Therapy and also in CBT (including
Exposure and Response Prevention) for treatment of Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder. I am a trainer with the American Psychological Association's (APA's)
HIV/AIDS Office of Psychology Education (HOPE). I am licensed as a psychologist
in both Pennsylvania and Georgia.
My professional experience:
Immediately following my internship, I provided psychotherapy and supervised a
foster care unit at a private foster care agency in Staten Island and Brooklyn. The
unit helped ensure permanent placement for children of terminally ill parents and
provided therapeutic and social work services to the parents, their children, and
the foster or adoptive parents with whom the children would live, should their
parents become too ill to care for them. During my time in New York, I also
volunteered as a group facilitator for an HIV psychotherapy group at Gay Men's
Health Crisis, a community-based HIV service organization.
In 1996, I moved to Georgia to serve on the faculty of the psychology department at
Kennesaw State University. While there, I also maintained a part-time private
practice treating a range of clinical issues. In addition, I facilitated support groups
for patients with a rare lymphoma, Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia, and for
HIV/AIDS patients in the greater Atlanta area. While in Georgia I also began
serving as a continuing education provider for the APA's HOPE program.
I recently moved to Pennsylvania and am pleased to be opening a private practice
in suburban Philadelphia. In addition, I continue to provide training about Rapid
HIV Testing to HIV Counselors throughout the US.
